Overall
I needed a non-manual tool to get up a lot of moss on a smallish lawn, so did not need a heavy-duty expensive machine. The BD Lawnraker does the job effectively, so I am satisfied. It's a light machine with a short handle, so you are effectively pushing it downwards as you push it along, which is probably necessary anyway because of its light weight. It's not so good at collecting the moss, which spews out dramatically onto the open-top collecting tray, which does not hold a lot. I had to go round with a rake afterwards to collect the moss that missed the tray. On a safety point, when the collecting tray is full, you have to put your hand between the tines and the tray to push the moss in that space onto the tray. You have to be patient to wait until the tines stop rotating, otherwise you could have a nasty experience. The tines are exposed enough that you can touch them while they are rotating. (I did make myself be patient, by the way!) As well as the moss setting, it has a higher setting for straightening the lawn before mowing, and a negative setting for scarifying, but I'm not sure that's a good idea because the tines are not strong for that job like specific-purpose scarifiers. The electric cable is not the longest I've seen - I need an extension in my garden.
